Rovers earnt their second home win of the season against an in form Bury side. Bury, who came into the game off the back of a 2-1 win over league leaders Millwall, looked dedidedly flat.
The first half of the game was easily forgettable. Each keeper was rarely tested by the attackers. Ansah Owusu had a chance in the very first minute to put the Gas one nil up, but the ball wouldn't drop properly for the on loan striker.
The game came alive on 32 minutes when a corner form the right which looked like it was about to go into orbit, came down to earth and onto Steve Foster's head and the ball bounced off the bar and into the net. The half finished 1-0 to Rovers with very few incidents to speak of.
In the second half Bury pressured the Rovers defence for the first 10-15 minutes, but couldn't find a way throught the resilliant defensive trio of Thomson, Jones, and Foster.
Rovers killed the game of with 8 minutes to go when Dwayne Plummer capitalized on a poor defensive clearence by the Bury defence, and his one two with Nathan Ellington lead to a cool and collected finished over Paddy Kenny in the Bury goal. Plummer's relief to score was evident from his celebration.
Ex Bristol City striker Colin Cramb squandered Bury's best chance of the game inside the last five minutes as his shot from the edge of the box flew into the South Stand.
